Susan is a retired elementary teacher with a minor in humanities who took a number of art classes as electives while in college. Among them were bookbinding and calligraphy. She went on to take workshops in bookbinding, paper making and paper marbling.
Over the years Susan has used her skills to produce many different styles and types of books and journals. She works with book cloth, handmade paper and leather. Susan continues to attend workshops, learning new techniques and broadening her knowledge of book and paper arts .
She believes a book should be a pleasure to look at, a pleasure to handle or feel and a pleasure to use. So when one puts a book together one must plan for all of those things. It all has to come together just right in order to be a successfully made book.
